North Park is a city with a lot to offer the modern hipster. It offers everything the hipster looks for in a place to call home.

North Park is known for its walkability, coffee houses, food trucks, and a high number of residents with artistic occupations. Add to that its farmer’s markets and locally owned bars, and North Park is a hipster Mecca.

The neighborhood is culturally diverse and full of craftsman cottages, craft beer, progressive restaurants, and a large art district. If you’re looking for a hip place to live in San Diego, North Park might be the place for you.

North Park

Whether your favorite thing to do is hang out in cafes and smoke unfiltered cigarettes, work on your novel in hip coffee shops, sip craft beer, eat burritos from food trucks, or buy kale at the local farmers markets, San Diego has you covered.

But perhaps no neighborhood in the city can compete with North Park in terms of hipster friendliness.

With its cultural diversity, independent coffee houses, cafes, craft breweries, and a thriving art scene, the North Park neighborhood has something for even the most discriminating hipsters.

So pull on your skinny jeans, your ironic glasses, and comb the food particles out of your lumberjack beard, because it’s time to check out what North Park has to offer.

The Art Scene-

Wikipedia compares the Ray Street arts district to SoHo in New York. Doesn’t get much hipper than that. There’s a monthly art walk with over thirty galleries and local businesses involved. Ray Street is full of galleries and studios.

If you’re new to the neighborhood and need a space, head there.

There’s also the Observatory North Park Theater. You can catch live shows thereof just about every kind. It gets rowdy in there sometimes, so use your best hipster judgment.

The Food-

Like nothing better than to stand around and eat handmade local food with your buddies? Try Taco La Mezcla for the best and freshest Mexican in the city. Need a vegan food truck? Check out Green Truck. Need an old-fashioned sandwich? Then, Chip’s Beach Eatz is for you.

But the food doesn’t all come from a truck in North Park. There’s plenty of brick and mortar spots, too. Check out the giant menu at Crest Cafe. Get a smoothie at DeMi Cafe, or get a salad at Sipz Vegetarian Fuzion Cafe.

The Brew (Coffee And Beer)-

Stop by Lestat’s Coffee House at any hour to enjoy their extensive menu. You can also catch live acts most nights. Check out Industrial Grind for in-house roasted coffees and homemade sugary goodness. For house roasted French press, check out Dark Horse Coffee Roasters.

Since it’s officially fall, there’s no better time to check out Belching Beaver Tasting Room for something tasty and thick, like their Dammed Double IPA or the Peanut Butter Stout.

Try the porter and the stout at Thorn St. Brewery. Get the ultimate in thick, seasonal goodness at Fall Brewing Company. Get the 2AM Bike Ride or something from the Nitro selection.

As you can see, if you love living the hipster lifestyle, you’ll feel right at home in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood.
