Point Loma Real Estate Spotlight

In this Point Loma Real Estate Spotlight, we’ll cover everything you need to know…

If you want to live somewhere in San Diego close to some great local history, don’t forget to take a look at Point Loma Real Estate. Locals enjoy the slow-paced life of Point Loma’s coastal community located on the grassy hills of San Diego south-western peninsula where you will find the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. This historic lighthouse stood to watch over the San Diego Bay from 1855 to 1891 before it was abandoned in favor of a newer building in a better position.

The National Park Service has refurbished the old lighthouse and now conducts Ranger-led tours and maintains displays in the facility. For decades, the five-foot-tall oil lamp could be seen twenty-five miles out into San Diego Bay greeting the sailors of its day. It’s a great little bit of San Diego history any history buff would love to live close to.

Best Restaurants in Point Loma

Supannee Thai Cuisine – Hands down THE best Thai in San Diego. It’s always a good idea to start with the Thai sausage crumbled with rice and exotic, fresh herbs/spices. Another contender in the appetizer department is the broccoli leaves that you stuff with tiny shrimp, peanuts, fresh, dried coconut and a wonderful sauce. All the curries are delightful, and there’s also a meat-and-potato type dish called Masamam. It’s a cool little place with much more room inside than one would think from outside! Lots of natural light from all the windows.

Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern – Beautiful location in Point Loma, on the water. They offer a great brunch with lots of options. The mimosas are fresh and bottomless, and the servers are always delightful and friendly.  The atmosphere is a nice, laid-back Tavern vibe that’s great for families. The best burgers in San Diego, seriously! If you’re feeling like comfort food, try the breaded chicken atop a mountain of mashed potatoes.

Mitch’s Seafood – Mitch’s has fresh seafood for very reasonable prices. The beer and wine selection is impressive! The staff is very friendly and always smiling. The seafood stew is delicious and packed with seafood. Their raw oysters are always thick and fresh, and their tacos are surprisingly inexpensive. You can sit outside, but be careful because the seagulls WILL steal your food!
