This is where the rich play. Rancho Santa Fe is the 11th richest community in California according to Business Insider.
Rancho Santa Fe is primarily residential, with a few blocks of shopping and restaurants. It’s known for a it’s crown jeweled neighborhood called the Covenant, which has a golf club, a tennis club, and 50 miles of horse-riding trails. It’s home to Microsoft’s Bill Gates, money-management entrepreneur Charles Brandes and has a median household income of $369,000.
The border of the town sits about 5 miles from the ocean and only 20 miles from downtown San Diego. Throughout the entire community is a sense of sophisticated living intertwined with rural equestrian roots. Rancho Santa Fe consists of many luxurious homes, private estates, and multiple gated communities. Many of the homes offer stunning hillside views of the ocean and the extensive countryside.
The Covenant is the center of all of the communities of Rancho Santa Fe. Downtown is a cluster of charm and allure, safe and beautiful. The Golf Courses are second to none in San Diego. Within Rancho Santa Fe are several communities unique in their own way. A few of the most popular are:
Fairbanks Ranch: A gated community perfect for walking or jogging to the Clubhouse and lake with the 5 lighted tennis courts, basketball/volleyball court and playgrounds. Perfect community for any family.
Bridges: Considered the most elite Golf Community. Set behind gates one is greeted by a very warm security and treated like royalty by the staff. Perfect for Singles, Couples, Empty Nesters and Families, the Bridges is the epitome of a truly Spectacular Golf Community. In addition there is a first class tennis facility and workout facility with pool/spa and indoor basketball court.
Del Mar Country Club: An upscale and private golf community with exclusive Guard Gated Community. Although it is the smallest Golf Course Community of 91 homes it is a very close knit community.
Rancho Santa Fe is home to one of California’s oldest adobe made homes. The house dates all the way back to the 1830’s. Osuna Ranch offers a historic glimpse into the bygone ranch like lifestyle including the Kumeyaay era, the Mexican Rancho period, the Mexican American War and the Railroad era through today. The nearly 200-year-old adobe sits on a 27-acre property which was purchased by the Rancho Santa Fe Association in 2006 for preservation, and includes a working equestrian facility along with the adobe structure.
The natural setting includes wildlife and plants that have flourished in the area for hundreds of years. The plants are a lesson themselves in indigenous, drought-tolerant varieties that thrive in this natural environment.
The ranch is still used for boarding of horses, with grazing available in the grassy pastures on the site. Operated by the Rancho Santa Fe Association, most horses are in training or under the care of Hap Hansen’s Stables. Two arenas are available and residents have access to the many miles of horse trails in the Covenant.
Golfing is one of the more popular activities in Rancho Santa Fe.
There are pristine golf courses located in the historic and prestigious community of Rancho Santa Fe, one of the most sought after and revered residential communities in the United States. With an ideal year round climate and bucolic trails, the community of Rancho Santa Fe offers every recreational opportunity, including private golf, tennis, polo, and horseback riding in Southern California.
Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club is a private members only club available to homeowners within the boundaries of the Rancho Santa Fe Association. Our private golf course is an eighteen hole 7035 yard, par 72 design by master golf course architect Max Behr first opened in 1929. Distinguished as one of the finest walkable designs in the world and named as one of the top 20 best golf venues by Golf Digest Magazine, it offers one of the finest practice facilities anywhere coupled with golf instruction for every level. Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club offers a first class golf experience in a relaxed setting that is in keeping with the rich tradition and ambiance of the “Ranch”.
Morgan Run is set amid majestic hills just three miles from DelMar and the Pacific Ocean. This resort and club offers 68 luxurious rooms and suites and a 27-hole championship golf course. You can perfect your swing on the 320-yard driving range and short game practice facilities.
Golfers get a bird’s eye view of a number of greens from tee boxes set high in the sky. The highest point on the course is the tee box on the fifth hole, a 423-yard par 4 that offers sweeping views of the property. The entire layout is dramatic, yet fairways are generous and elevation changes and distance between greens and tee boxes make each hole a picturesque experience. The North County San Diego region’s serenity lends itself to a relaxing atmosphere that helps to create golf experiences that continue to challenge and inspire year after year.
