Surf’s up at Swami’s Beach!


Just south of the Meditation Gardens at the Self Realization Fellowship Retreat provides a surfer’s haven. Swami’s became famous in the Beach Boys song “Surfin’ USA”.

Swami’s Beach also known for its spectacular diving spots offering beds of kelp a quarter of a mile from its shores.

Other beaches connect to Swami’s Beach like the Carlsbad Beach and the San Elijo Lagoon. Perfect for romantic walks and jogging along the beaches.


Moonlight Beach


Moonlight Beach conveniently located close to Encinitas eateries and stores. This beach is perfect for families by offering children’s play areas, volleyball court, beach rentals, and shower facilities.

Originally named because local residents loved to go there for midnight picnics in the early 1900’s. The beach still features fire rings for late night bonfires and BBQ’s.

Historic Shopping District

The culture and origin of Encinitas found in this charming museum opened in 1988. The San Dieguito Heritage Museum not only teaches the origins and culture of Encinitas but also the entire San Dieguito River area.

The museum exhibitions include Native American ancestry along with typical fauna and flora in abundance in the area.


La Paloma Theatre


The La Paloma Theatre opened in 1928 and was one of the first theaters to show “Talkies” located in one of the oldest buildings in Encinitas. Local resident actress Mary Pickford hosted the opening gala. It’s an architectural gem with Spanish Colonial structures. Still operating as a movie theatre it also offers concerts and other performances.  Another local resident, Eddie Vedder with Pearl Jam also performed there.

The San Elijo Ecological Reserve


The San Elijo Ecological Reserve situated on a 1,000-acre reserve between Encinitas and Solano Beach. This reserve offers over seven miles of easy to moderate hiking trails. The trails pass through the largest open wetlands in California. Numerous animal species inhabit the reserve. Very popular with birders and hikers.

Its Nature Center teaches visitors about its rich biodiversity this ecological reserve offers.


Meditation Gardens at the Self-Realization Fellowship


The Meditation Gardens located within the Self Realization Fellowship Temple best known for its wide variety of beautiful flora.

Visitors can freely stroll among the meditation nooks, waterfalls and koi ponds. They also enjoy a spectacular coastline view.



San Diego Botanic Garden


Encinitas recognized as one of the “Flower Capitals of the World” by the prestigious Locale Magazine in 2017 with beautiful botanical gardens.

San Diego Botanic Garden described by reviews in Trip Adviser as recent as September 22, 2018: “A World Experience in Encinitas”. Over 90% of the 464 reviews rated the botanical gardens as “excellent” and “very good”.
