La Jolla Real Estate Spotlight

In this La Jolla Real Estate Spotlight, we’ll cover everything you need to know…

Welcome to paradise! La Jolla is made up of a seven-mile stretch of coastline property only 15 minutes north of downtown San Diego. Before the turn of the century, it was a resort area, and by 1900, it included 100 buildings and 350 residents. Current records show the population to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000.

The community is known for its gorgeous beaches, distinguished art galleries, and beautiful parks. Like San Diego, this city benefits from a sunny atmosphere that is perfect for spending days at the beach.

The Culture

La Jolla or “The Jewel” in Spanish, is characterized by steep canyons, rugged ocean bluffs, and stunning hillsides culminating at Mount Soledad. The beauty and culture have naturally made this coastal city a popular destination for vacationers since 1980.

The city is home to the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art which contains a permanent collection of more than 3,500 post-1950 American and European works of art. The Stephen Birch Aquarium and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography also reside here. The Scripps Institution is considered to be one of the more important research centers for the ocean worldwide.
