La Playa San Diego Real Estate Spotlight Facts

In La Playa San Diego Real Estate the original La Playa maintains historical significance for California and San Diego. In 1542 the first European setting foot in California, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo,    landed in La Playa. La Playa (“The Beach” in Spanish) borders San Diego Bay in the Point Loma community.

Some of the most expensive homes in San Diego found in La Playa. A mainly residential neighborhood containing two yacht clubs, the Southwestern Yacht Club and the San Diego Yacht Club. Many bayfront homes maintain private piers for small boats.

La Playa protected from wind and waves by the Point Loma headland creating a safe place to anchor. The surrounding hills provide great views of San Diego Bay. The views also include the Downtown San Diego skyline and Coronado.

Considered prime real estate for over 100 years.

An upscale residential neighborhood with a population of only around 2,500. Located within the Point Loma community bordered by the Point Loma Naval Base to the south, Silvergate Street on the north, Jenkins Street to the west, and Dickens Street on the east.

The La Playa neighborhood contains many of the most expensive San Diego homes with prices ranging from $1 million to $15 million. Homeowners enjoy the water with swimming, kayaking, sailing, and fishing. Many own boats for their private docks.

La Playa’s small business center called “The Village” on Canon Street between Scott Street and Rosecrans Street. Plenty of beauty salons, banks, cafes, restaurants, and small businesses.

Residents love the unpaved path running along the shore providing jogging or leisurely strolls. Its natural beauty provides spectacular views of sailing boats in the bay. This path serves as a link between Point Loma and Old San Diego and is one of the oldest California trails and part of the historic La Playa Trail.

While La Playa feels secluded, it’s conveniently close to the international airport and Downtown San Diego.
