Old Town San Diego Historical Buildings

 

Casa de Estudillo (also called the Estudillo House) built-in 1827 displays a typical San Diego prominent family lifestyle. The most famous of the original San Diego adobe homes with its 13 rooms furnished with 16th to 20th-century items.

The Whaley House Museum built in 1856 and designated as one of two official haunted houses in California with many reported ghost sightings. A former gallows’ site and former home to the Whaley family. It also served as the county courthouse and San Diego’s first theater.

In May, enjoy the annual free Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo lasting for three days of non-stop music, a bustling Mercado (market), displaying lowrider cars, and Lucha Libre wrestling.

In July, attend the Historic Old Town 4th of July celebration featuring crafts, a parade, and traditional early San Diego Independence Day celebrations. Many contests to take part in like cherry pit spitting, making handmade ribbons, and the egg toss.

In October, enjoy the Old Town Día de Los Muertos celebration a traditional Mexican cultural and historical holiday.
