Rancho Bernardo History

 

In 1842, the Rancho San Bernardo Mexican land grant created Rancho Bernardo. It wasn’t until the 1960s when Rancho Bernardo annexed to San Diego. The AVCO Community Developers Company developed the area.  

In 2007, a terrible fire called the Witch Creek Fire burned and destroyed most of Rancho Bernardo along with other areas in San Diego County. However, since then the entire area re-developed to become a popular community.
