The alluring community of Santaluz is located just east of Del Mar and next to Rancho Santa Fe about 40 minutes from San Diego.
After the ending of the Mexican-American war in the 1880’s some areas in the property was purchased by the American Government. But, the parents, so to speak, of the community are the original Hollywood power couple, Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and his wife, Mary Pickford.
The property continued to change hands until finally settling with Taylor Woodrow Homes, Inc. and DMB Associates. The two companies joined together in the late 1990s to create the community so many call home today. They named it Santaluz, or “sacred light”, with a vision to intricately blend in their beautifully designed homes and the lands natural habitat.
At the center of the community is championship-worthy, 18-hole golf course designed by Rees Jones. The mix of natural splendor and luxurious residential homes that Santaluz offers manages to separate this town from the rest. Residents come from all walks of life. Most are filled with a love of both privacy and outdoor living.
